4 ways Ooma AirDial Remote Device Management gives you even more info and options
The Ooma AirDial® Remote Device Management (RDM) portal helps busy IT or facility managers like you monitor and control their POTS replacement devices through the web. You won’t waste valuable time heading out to check each piece of equipment plugged into your AirDial devices.
RDM is always improving, adding helpful new features to save time and improve your experience. Here are a few recent ones you might have missed!
Call Alerts
You can now set up alerts to be notified via email or SMS when calls are made from an AirDial line. For example, if you’re a building owner you can receive a notification any time an emergency call is made from an elevator or blue light phone. This feature requires AirDial client version 7.5.2.2, so make sure your device is updated.
This can help you be better aware of what’s going on, so you can jump in to assist first responders if needed for building access or information.
SMS/email notification when AC power turns back on
Ooma AirDial RDM can alert you via SMS or email if the AirDial battery is low, the device goes out of service and when it returns to service. And now it can alert you to one more scenario.
Let’s say your power goes out. Ooma AirDial will instantly switch to its battery backup. When the power comes back on, Ooma AirDial will switch back to AC power. Now with Ooma AirDial RDM, you can enable SMS/Email notifications for when AC power returns and the battery is longer in use. This way, you won’t be in the dark when the lights come back on. You can choose to get notifications by email, SMS or both.
Add a bill when porting
Porting a phone number can be complicated and take time, and sometimes requires backup documents. RDM already made it easy to start the porting process within the portal. A new convenience is being able to upload a copy of your current phone bill to the RDM portal to verify the number being ported.
To start the porting process, head to the account page and choose the “Ported Numbers” tab.
Click “Start Porting” and enter or attach the information needed, including provider, account details and a copy of your recent phone bill. Make some acknowledgements and you’re off to a smooth start. A Letter of Authorization (LOA) to your current provider will be generated.
When the process is over—and remember, it can take 14 days to complete—the ported number will appear in the Ported Numbers tab of the Account Details page.
Dark Mode
Tired of looking at bright screens all day? We get it. That’s where Dark Mode comes in, allowing you to make things easier on the eyes. If you’re on a laptop, you’ll also save some battery life because your monitor won’t have to push as many of those bright pixels.
Plus, Dark Mode just looks cooler.
Ooma AirDial RDM keeps getting better
